Keeping Up With the Latest Webmaster Trends on Forums

Posted by Ask Salomon in General Marketing, Popular Articles on Ask Salomon

bevyhostscreenshot.jpg

If you own an online business, all the more you should keep up with the latest webmaster news and trends. You can do so by visiting webmaster forums, blogs or other community sites. The main benefit of reading news on webmaster forums is that you get to stay in tune with the latest Internet marketing trends. Regardless of which niche you are in, your marketing will certainly be affected by evolving trends.

There are a plethora of webmaster forums and blogs that you can visit on a daily basis. Content comes in the format of expert articles, news, opinionated blog posts, and more recently, podcasts and videos. As infrastructure improves and bandwidth costs plunge, it’s only natural that more bandwidth intensive content starts to swarm the Internet. Swarm is a pretty strong word to use, but it’s definitely not over exaggerating. Just take a look at some of the top sites on the Internet today - Youtube, MySpace, Facebook, etc. All of them are community websites. If you recognized this rising trend way in advance, perhaps you have already profited in some way or another. Maybe you could have developed a Facebook application that has spread to a million users. The point is, if you stay updated, you will always stand to benefit.

Another major benefit is that when you visit community sites, you have the opportunity to interact with other like minded webmasters. You can share information, and be in tune with the webmaster community. With a wide network of friends online, you increase your chances of succeeding online. For instance, you can exchange links with other popular blogs, or you can comment on one another’s blog posts. The possibilities are endless.

Webmaster forums have evolved to a very mature stage now. As a member, you can send private messages to other members, or buy, sell, trade online. These forums come with sophisticated back-end tools, which allow thousands of members to login to the forum at the same time. Highly popular forums are often run on dedicated servers. But you don’t have to concern yourself too much with that. Those are administrative stuff that forum owners or moderators worry about.

Speaking of moderators, they are there to do a job, which is to enforce any forum policies that a forum may have. So be sure to read the policies before participating in a forum. If you violate any rules, moderators may be coming after you. Sometimes, they may let you off with a light warning, but on more serious infringements, they will ban the accounts. So read the rules, and play nice.

Rules aside, also remember that you are on forums to network with others. So do refrain from any unkind comments. If you are uncomfortable with any posts that you come across, just leave the thread and don’t post anything. There is really little point in posting anything that causes resentment. Make friends, not enemies.

So keep in mind the social etiquette when participating in webmaster online forums. Visit them for the news, expert articles, and other content.

Internet safety and rebirth of cybercrime

Posted by wilgmn532 in Life on Internet

Human brain developed for hundreds of thousands of centuries sustaining the concept of risk that assistance ed us to stay alive running from predators and hiding from security threats. On one side, this million-year experience makes our consciousness of risk a pretty flawless one, since it help ed us to survive during hundreds of thousands of centuries of rebirth, but on the other hand, the word risk sounds a little bit exaggerated especially when quoted by Web computer security specialist s of today.

As Marcus Ranum, Chief Security Officer of Tenable Web work Security and author of The Myth of Homeland Security, explains, cybercrime gives you a criminal with a means of automation and anonymity, needs very little in word s of information technology knowledge or equipment, and can cross worldwide borderlines very fast, making it more effortless to hide and more burdensome to be prosecuted.

It seems that offenders developed in a very similar way our perception of risk did, from regular robbers with arms running around and killing people, to somehow less violent, yet very dangerous individuals whose targets are now online banking accounts and laptops of millions of users international.

The latest news from England’s major retail bankers says, that if your online banking account has been wiped out and you didn’t use any Cyberspace safety software equipped with antivirus and antispyware eg Norton 360, you entirely are to be blamed for the amount that is lost and they won’t compensate you a penny. Banks even embedded a clause in the recently updated Banking Code, that says they are not liable for any losing of money if your PC doesn’t have antispyware software with the updated self-replicating malware definition installed. Sounds marvelous, doesn’t it?

They don’t risk their lives to get money, they don’t shoot at anyone any more, they don’t even do any physical harm to their victims. Today’s crime exercised online, the Internet crime, uses safeness holes and threats to PC safety in software and equipment to sneak money from peoples’ pockets sitting right in the front of their computer machines. No need to shoot, nor to threat anybody. Just a few smart code snippets smuggled into the victim’s PC via email or a booby-trapped website and you are done. Simple as that.

According to recent Cyberspace computer safety and online identity fraud research, the British Police are being informed about a new cybercrime event every 10 seconds. This accounted for over GBP 300 millions amount that is lost for private and business bank customers in the Great Britain in 2007. However, many online computer safety professional s claim that vast majority of cybercrime s are never reported because they haven’t been detected or were of a lesser severity.

Having that said, you, the Cyberspace user, are solely liable for your doings online. And whether you get your online banking password snatched and money robbed by hackers, chances are no one except you will pay for this. So, whether your computer isn’t properly protected you may be running a risk of getting hacked and your identity becomes an easy target for those knowing how to steal it. To make sure this won’t happen, get yourself a copy of a free antispyware software that are available to transfer from various vendors today. Enjoy your online!

Review Requested: here by Jason

After having a peak at your site I must say Im impressed. There were a few bits which I didnt like and alot I did like, break it down now!!!

Content:

The content itself made for a good read, I mainly stuck to the blog link on this as the other pages seem to hurt my eyes alittle (the pink page and the status page), after a while I tried out the other links ( hydrogenmafia etc ) shame they wernt part of your site… and that hydrogenmafia almost killed my pc. But over all good content

Layout:

Apart from the status page and the pink page (just for the colours not really doing my eyes any good), I did like the full use of the java menu at the top, rare to see a good little widget like that. Everything else about the site was good.

Ease of use:

I couldnt find a single problem with your site, nice and easily laid out, nothing at all went wrong (well aoart from hydrogenmafia locking my PC for a min or two lol). Nicely done

Over all:

Over all I liked your site, was a good read and it was well made, in the idea the colour choice is your own, and my review is the opinion of ONE person not the whole internet so I cant say “you would do better if you….”. All I can say is that if it is working then keep doing it. Well done on a good site.

5 out of 5 :-)’s
